New Pics, New Stories

I just finished uploading 30 or so new pictures on my Flickr site (link to the right), and realized that I haven't written much about the last couple weeks. I did mention the Parents' Day celebration, which included drinking and socializing in the cemetery with my extended host family. Also in the pictures you'll see bits of our trip to Yavlenka, a village about an hour SW of Petropavlovsk and home to another PCV named Tim. Finally, there are pictures from Victory Day, May 9th, when we hit the streets to see the parade, opening of a new WWII monument, and concerts.

Today was the last day of school, tonight is a trip to visit another PCV in Beshkul (a suburb of Petro), tomorrow is the first picnic at the lacke without ice and snow, and Monday is the 11th grade's graduation ceremony. Once I catch my breath - sometime about Tuesday afternoon, I imagine - I'll be sure to sit down and write more details. For now it will suffice to say that the weather is great, the days are long, lessons are over, and Фил is happy.
