Mike and I are hoping to start a movie club at the public library in the next couple weeks, and have in our possesion some movies and movie guides (in Russian, even!) to help students through the massive amounts of slang and idioms. We are well on our way to teaching these kids a thing or two about American culture and English language in the exciting medium of film. However, we only have a handful of movies to start with, and are hoping to continue this club though the next 20 months. We have plans (in Russian, even!) for the following movies, but don't have the films themselves to show the kids.
Apollo 13
Awaknings
Cast-away
Groundhog Day
Moscow on the Hudson
Mrs Doubtfire
Rain Man
Stand by me
Forest Gump
Sleepless in Seattle
When Harry Met Sally
American Graffiti
Fargo
To Kill a Mockingbird
Pirates of the Caribbean
Ocean’s 11
Men in Black
If anyone has copies of these that they wouldsend along, that would be amazing. Pirated copies are welcome, as 90% of the discs sold in the bazaar here are not legal copies. If these movies don't interest you, we are still looking for the following movies, although more for our sanity and viewing pleasure.
Austin powers
Simpsons movie
No country for old men
High fidelity
Hot fuzz
Shawn of the dead
Broke back mountain
June bug
It’s a wonderful life
Meaning of life
Men in tights
Knocked up
40 yr old virgin
The life aquatic
Rattatiouie
Sicko
Boogie nights
Superbad
Aristokrats
Big lebouski
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Garden state
Napoleon dynamite
Boogie nights
Boondock saints
